When you contact ST&A Psychology via phone, email, text, our online website contact form, or in person, to make or alter an appointment for yourself, friend, partner, patient or family member, you will speak with one of our Client Liaison Officers.
Our Client Liaison officers are very friendly, empathic and sensitive communicators who will assist you by thoughtfully matching your issues, availability and therapy needs with our psychologists’ availability, style, skills and experience. This will ensure you are seen by the most suitable therapist for you, and the therapist who can best help you with your specific issues. Thus, when you first speak with one of our Client Liaison officers, they will ask you to provide brief information about your problems and issues, specific goals of therapy, your expectations about therapy, and ongoing available days and times. They will also need to spend 5-10 minutes minutes providing you with the information you will require before starting therapy such as the importance of booking in and attending consistence sessions in advance, the research data about number of sessions over time to achieve goals of therapy, and to ensure you understand the fees, rebates and our cancellation policy. Our job is to position you for success in therapy.
Our Client Liaison Officers are well trained and experienced in our codes of conduct, professional and ethical behaviour and client confidentiality. They have great communication skills and are ready to listen with care, empathy and respect. As we are not a crisis service however, if you are in crisis or cannot keep yourself safe before your first appointment (which may be weeks away) or between appointments, we will redirect you to other crisis services including your Local Mental Health Team, Lifeline, Kids Helpline, and the Suicide Call back Service.
